‘Creamy’ Vegan Vodka Sauce

Growing up with part of my family Italian, I had a very young love for pasta. All kinds of pasta.. all kinds of dishes.

But one in particular has been my favorite since I was a little girl: Vodka Sauce.

This is a classic italian sauce with (yes,) vodka, tomatoes, heavy cream, basil and fresh pasta.  All the good things in life, amiright?

For this recipe we are going to skip out on the vodka but still going for creaminess mixed with the classic taste of tomato sauce.

 

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1 container of fresh pasta
  • 1 jar of your favorite marinara sauce
  • 1 1/2 tbs of Garlic La Onda
  • 1 handful of fresh basil leaves

By using a jar of tomato sauce, we are definitely cutting some corners. Feel free to start from scratch with the sauce.

Add half of the jar to a medium frying pan along with your Garlic La Onda and basil. Turn to simmer and begin to stir to blend the ingredients. Let simmer for 5 min, stirring occasionally.

This time around, I bought some fresh, locally made pasta. This is not a requirement, but a strong suggestion. There’s nothing like it!!

Cook your favorite pasta according to the directions.

After your sauce has simmered and mixed, top it on your pasta for a delectable sauce. You’ll never even know that it’s sans dairy. And look at this color.. amazing!
